A false statement has been circulated on behalf of the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan

The Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan (MEDIA) has issued an official statement regarding a fake news item circulating online that was falsely attributed to the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev.
As Report was informed by MEDIA, the fake news concerns Russian-Azerbaijani relations and represents a deliberate attempt at disinformation.
The perpetrators imitated the official website of the President of Azerbaijan. This provocation is a clear example of information manipulation aimed at disorienting public opinion, the statement says.
"We urge the public to trust information only from official sources. Information reflecting the official position of the state is available from official sources and is distributed by the country's news agencies and other professional media entities. We call on citizens of Azerbaijan, journalists, and public activists to always show principled positions in such cases and to remain vigilant, considering the increasing fake and false information campaigns," the MEDIA statement emphasizes.
