Jabbarov revealed the strategic plans of Azerbaijan's gas policy

Azerbaijan is increasing natural gas exports, focusing on commercial efficiency rather than mechanical increase in supply volumes.
This was stated to Report by the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.
According to him, simply increasing or even maintaining a stable volume of gas exports is not considered as an end in itself for the Azerbaijani economy.
"The main task is for Azerbaijan to fully fulfill the contractual obligations it has undertaken. This should serve the international reputation of our country and at the same time be commercially efficient. That is, the main evaluation criterion is not the figures themselves, but the synthesis of such factors and results as a whole," said the minister.
Jabbarov emphasized that volatility in the global gas market requires a flexible approach to strategic planning. "For this reason, we should focus not just on figures as a goal, but on the overall balance of the criteria listed above," the minister added.
Recall that in January-June 2025, Azerbaijan exported 12 billion 364 million 984.82 thousand cubic meters of natural gas worth 4 billion 541 million 622.15 thousand US dollars. The volume of exported natural gas increased by 4.56%, and its value - by 11.62% compared to the first half of last year.
