In Azerbaijan, these cars have sharply increased in price
"Tax incentives for environmentally friendly vehicles - hybrid and electric cars - ended in January, and after the abolition of these preferences, an increase in prices was recorded in the country's automotive market".
This was stated to BAKU.WS by the chairman of the board of the Association of Automobile Dealers of Azerbaijan, Eyub Aliyev.
According to him, the price increase is felt because the amount of the previously active incentive is now added to the cost of cars:
"The price increase is observed among both official and unofficial dealers. However, official dealers don't have any additional artificial price increases. The active incentive simply ended, and consequently, the price increased by that amount. But other individuals engaged in car sales raised prices back in December of last year. This, of course, is considered an artificial price increase. In general, price increases occur when costs rise at manufacturing plants and logistics expenses increase.
On the other hand, we are also observing price increases in the collapsed used car market. Last year, the cost of these cars fell by up to 35-40 percent.
The end of incentives for environmentally friendly vehicles, the issue of the 6-month term with cars from China, and the increase in the excise tax rate when importing cars older than seven years into the country have led to another price increase for used cars as well".
