On March 18, Turkey marks the 111th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Çanakkale - one of the largest and bloodiest battles of World War I.
During World War I, the entire world witnessed the heroic resistance of the Ottoman army in the Battle of Çanakkale, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk forced the Entente forces to acknowledge the Dardanelles strait as impregnable.
Military operations in the area of the Gallipoli Peninsula took place both on land and at sea.
The naval battle lasted from February 19 to March 18, 1915, while the land confrontation continued from April 25, 1915 to January 9, 1916.
The battle is considered one of the bloodiest in the history of Turkey.
