The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan called on motorists to strictly observe fire safety rules in vehicles amid increasing cases of car fires.

The ministry noted that in the first quarter of this year alone, 108 reports of vehicle fires were received on the 112 hotline throughout the country.

The department named the main causes of car fires as malfunctions in the vehicle's electrical system, leaks in the fuel system, high temperature of individual parts, as well as smoking in the vehicle.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations asks drivers to strictly comply with fire safety requirements, constantly monitor the technical condition of cars, replace wires with damaged insulation with new ones, not make changes to the car that violate the manufacturer's standards, and not smoke in the car or allow other situations that could cause a fire, particularly smoking inside the vehicle.

In addition, the ministry emphasized that each vehicle must be equipped with a fire extinguisher, and the condition and suitability of the fire extinguisher must be constantly monitored.
