In the Sabunchi district, the trial of Bakhtiyar Veliyev, accused of murdering his 25-year-old wife Khumar Hasanli, who was also his cousin, has concluded. The motive for the crime was jealousy.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to musavat.com, B.Veliyev inflicted 11 stab wounds on his wife with a fruit knife.

According to acquaintances, K.Hasanli had worked in a beauty salon for some time, and the relationship between the spouses seemed normal. However, 10 days before the tragedy, B.Veliyev suspected his wife of infidelity.

"I didn't allow her to use a phone. One day our child said that his mother had a phone. That's when I became suspicious. Later I found out that she was communicating with another man. On the day of the incident, I picked up Khumar from the salon where she was with the children, and we returned home. The children got out of the car, and I stayed alone with her. I took her phone and asked who she was talking to. There was also a video of her having fun with this man. Khumar was confused and couldn't say anything. When she ran out of the car, I rushed after her. I don't remember how many times I stabbed her with the knife," B.Veliyev stated in court and added that the children were not present at the time of the murder.

He also expressed regret for his actions.

The court found B.Veliyev guilty of intentional murder with extreme cruelty and sentenced him to 16 years in prison.
