Two years pass since the return of four villages of the Gazakh district to Azerbaijan
Two years have passed since the return of four villages of the Gazakh district to Azerbaijan - Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilgajili.
BAKU.WS reminds that in accordance with the instruction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, in order to ensure the liberation from occupation of the villages of Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilgajili of the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan, following the results of the 8th meeting on April 19, 2024, between the State Commission on Delimitation of the State Border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia and the Commission on Issues of Delimitation of the State Border and Border Security between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, a protocol was signed.
In order to implement the above-mentioned protocol, based on geodetic measurements on the ground along the coordinates of the border line, verification was carried out and a Technical Protocol on the results of joint field work was compiled, containing a Protocol-description of the course of the corresponding border line.
On May 15, 2024, the next 9th meeting of the commissions took place at the border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, where the above-mentioned Technical Protocol was agreed upon and a corresponding protocol of the commissions was signed.
As a result of the delimitation work, a border line with a length of 12.7 km was determined, thereby ensuring the return to Azerbaijan of the territories (6.5 sq. km) of four villages of the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan: Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilgajili.
On May 24, 2024, the territories of the villages of Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilgajili of the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan were taken under the control of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
