The second day of the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) kicks off.
As reported by BAKU.WS, today, for the first time in the forum's history, a Leaders' Summit will be held at the initiative of Azerbaijan. In addition, the day's program includes a joint closing session of the assemblies, the official opening of the Urban Expo exhibition, and a regional meeting of ministers from African region countries.
As a reminder, WUF13 is jointly organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Government of Azerbaijan. The large-scale international event, held under the motto "Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements," will run until May 22. The World Urban Forum addresses such global issues as the future of cities, sustainable development, climate challenges, and improving people's well-being.
On the first day of the forum, a ministerial meeting on the New Urban Agenda was already held under Azerbaijan's chairmanship. Sessions of the Women's Assembly, the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments, the Assembly of Communities and Civil Society Organizations, the Children and Youth Assembly, and the Business Assembly also took place. Among the side events was a session of the Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA), jointly organized by UN-Habitat and the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan.
