Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan familiarized themselves with the activities of a sewing factory in Khankendi

On July 3, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized themselves with the activities of the Azerbaijani-Uzbek joint venture - the Businesstex JV garment factory in the city of Khankendi.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the factory produces 150 types of men's clothing, 300 types of women's clothing, and 150 types of children's clothing from various fabrics. In the future, there are plans to produce men's shirts, work clothes, and military clothing. Currently, the factory produces 2,500 units of various knitwear products per day. This figure is planned to be increased to 10,000. 80% of the products will be exported to various countries. At the initial stage of the project, 250 professionally trained people were employed at the factory. A total of 500 jobs will be created at the enterprise. The factory primarily employs citizens who have returned to the territories liberated from occupation from the surrounding areas.
The initial investment cost of the project is 6 million manats, and industrial cooperation is being implemented for the supply of raw materials. The factory operates using local, Turkish, Uzbek, and Chinese raw materials. The Entrepreneurship Development Fund of Azerbaijan (EDFA) under the Ministry of Economy allocated a concessional loan of 3.5 million manats for the establishment of the enterprise, and exemption from VAT and customs duties amounting to about 640,000 manats was applied. The operation of the enterprise will make a significant contribution to the growth of non-oil exports in the region.
It should be noted that the establishment of the Khankendi garment factory was carried out based on the instructions of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to deepen economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. This garment factory is a symbol of successful cooperation between our countries. The project creates new opportunities for the development of light industry in our country, as well as for the development of traditional ties of friendship and economic partnership between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
