President Ilham Aliyev received a member of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations
On July 7, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation Senator Steve Daines.
As reported by BAKU.WS, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that since the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States for the second time, bilateral relations based on cooperation and mutual trust have been developing successfully. He said that the ties have reached the level of strategic partnership, and this is very important for our countries and at the same time for the entire region.
The head of state recalled with satisfaction the visit of U.S. Vice President JD Vance to Azerbaijan and noted the significance of the signing during that visit of the "Charter on Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America" in terms of expanding bilateral relations.
President Ilham Aliyev said that his personal relations with Donald Trump are also at a high level, and emphasized the special role of the U.S. President in advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Noting that historic events have taken place since Steve Daines' last visit to our country, the head of state thanked the guest for his efforts in developing Azerbaijani-American relations.
Senator Steve Daines, for his part, stated that relations between our countries have been developing successfully in recent times, and emphasized that the visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Washington in August of last year was a landmark event.
The guest also noted the important role of Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev at the geopolitical level.
Steve Daines expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the leadership he has demonstrated in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and implementing the peace agenda.
During the conversation, the importance of the TRIPP corridor in terms of regional transport connectivity was emphasized, and an exchange of views took place on strengthening the dialogue between Azerbaijan and the U.S. Senate, as well as partnership prospects.
