Ilham Aliyev's visit to Tbilisi through the lens of Haber Global: The South Caucasus has turned into a center of peace and cooperation
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev paid an official visit to the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
As reported by BAKU.WS, footage of the visit was broadcast on the Turkish television channel Haber Global.
At the airport, an honor guard was lined up in honor of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. They were welcomed by Georgia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili. The head of state began his visit by visiting the Heroes' Memorial. A solemn ceremony featuring an honor guard company was also held at the monument in honor of the Azerbaijani leader.
The head of state laid a wreath at the monument. The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Georgia were then played.
Afterwards, Ilham Aliyev proceeded to the Heydar Aliyev Culture and Recreation Park to pay tribute to the memory of Azerbaijan's national leader at his monument. An official welcoming ceremony was then held at the Presidential Palace.
Ilham Aliyev held a one-on-one meeting with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili. The sides discussed the development of Azerbaijani-Georgian bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of joint projects in the energy and transport sectors.
The Azerbaijani leader also held talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The meetings were held both in a narrow format and in an expanded format with the participation of delegations, followed by a joint press conference.
Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence in the further strengthening of ties, noting: "Georgia and Azerbaijan are always together. The Middle Corridor runs through both countries and is our main transport route. Our relations can serve as an example for other neighboring states."
In addition, the President of Azerbaijan drew attention to the new geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus that emerged after the victory in Karabakh. He emphasized that the region has become a center of peace and cooperation.
In turn, the Georgian Prime Minister called Ilham Aliyev a valued friend of his country and stated Tbilisi's readiness to support the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
