Ilham Aliyev: Successful results of COP29 went down in history as the "Baku Breakthrough"

The successful results of COP29, held in Baku in November last year, have gone down in history as the "Baku Breakthrough".

As reported by AZERTAG, this was stated in the address of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the 13th session of the CICA Think Tank Forum titled "Resonance of Development and Security: Regional Cooperation and Governance in the Institutional Transformation of CICA".

In his address, the head of state also recalled that during its successful chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in 2019-2023, Azerbaijan opposed injustice against the countries of the Global South and worked to strengthen the Movement's positions in the international arena.

"It is commendable that the founding conference of the Global South NGO platform was held this year in Baku. At the same time, our priorities as the chair of COP29 included promoting the positions of Global South countries on the climate agenda, addressing the needs of the least developed countries, especially small island states," the President emphasized.
