Ilham Aliyev: Seven private companies have already begun production of military products

When 20 years ago by my Order the Ministry of Defense Industry was created, at that time we evaluated this sector as an industry under state monopoly. However, over the years, especially taking into account international experience, we saw that in many countries private companies play a leading role. Moreover, by involving private companies in this work, we will be able to reduce the burden on the state, including financial burden. Therefore, in the last two years, opportunities have been provided to private companies on par with state companies.

As reported by AZERTAJ, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this on January 5 in an interview with local TV channels.

"To date, licenses have been issued to 15 companies. Of course, this is a sector that requires licenses. Seven private companies have already started manufacturing military products. If we look at the volume of investments, we will see that 1 billion manats were invested in the creation of new production sites and the expansion of existing ones in 2024-2025. Half of this amount was invested by the private sector. Again, since this industry is somewhat closed to the public, detailed information is not provided. But this process has acquired a very wide scope," added the head of state.
