Ilham Aliyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov familiarized themselves with the progress of construction of the New Shusha Mosque

On July 17, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov familiarized themselves with the progress of construction work at the New Shusha Mosque.

As reported by BAKU.WS, Presidential Aide Anar Alakbarov informed the head of state and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan about the ongoing work.

It was reported that the foundation of the mosque was laid by the head of our state in 2021. Its architectural solution has a symbolic character, and it will stand out as an example of modern architecture in the historical city. Thus, on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, the shape of the mosque will reflect the number 8, which, in turn, symbolizes the day of liberation of the city of Shusha from the occupiers - Victory Day. The two minarets of the mosque will display the number 11. This is a symbol of the liberation of the city of Shusha and Karabakh from occupation in the eleventh month. The mosque, with minarets reaching a height of 72 meters, is being built in the upper part of the city of Shusha. Its exterior will be decorated with geometric patterns similar to those adorning the minarets of the ancient Shusha Mosque. Currently, more than 60% of the work has been completed. The construction of the mosque is planned to be completed next year.
