Ali Asadov held a telephone conversation with Cevdet Yılmaz
Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov and Vice President of Turkey Cevdet Yılmaz discussed in a phone conversation the rerouting of flights to Iğdır Airport following the Iranian drone attack on Nakhchivan.
This was reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, a resolute protest was expressed regarding the unmanned aerial vehicle attacks carried out by the Iranian side on March 5 against Azerbaijan. The parties particularly emphasized that such actions are in contradiction with the norms and principles of international law.
Asadov stated that as a result of Iranian drone strikes, Nakhchivan International Airport, a school building, and other areas came under fire. It was declared that several civilians were injured in the incident, and material damage was inflicted on the air terminal.
It was emphasized that the phone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev following the incident, expressing support for the Azerbaijani people, is a vivid example of the unbreakable brotherhood and solidarity between the two countries.
In light of the situation, Asadov expressed gratitude to brotherly Turkey for its prompt assistance in organizing the temporary operation of flights through Iğdır city airport, which was undertaken to ensure the safety of air travel on the Nakhchivan route.
During the phone conversation, pressing issues on the current agenda arising from the situation were discussed.
