222 people have been provided with jobs at the new bus depot in the city of Nakhchivan.

As Report informs, this was stated to journalists by Esmer Aliyeva, Head of the Public Relations Department of BakuBus LLC.

According to her, the construction of the bus depot, which began in December of last year, is being carried out on an area of 2.72 hectares. An administrative building, a repair shop, and a car wash have been constructed on the territory of the complex, and conditions have been created for the operation of 112 buses, including electric ones.

"In order to organize passenger transportation in the public transport system of Nakhchivan exclusively with electric buses, 60 BYD buses assembled in Azerbaijan with a capacity of 53 passengers each were purchased, charging devices were installed, and the depot infrastructure for bus maintenance was improved. When fully charged, the buses will be able to cover a distance of approximately 200 km. At the first stage, the launch of buses on 9 route lines is planned. Work has also been carried out to optimize routes and stops," she said.

The BakuBus representative noted that in connection with the commissioning of the bus depot, 222 people have been provided with jobs.

Aliyeva reported that in all buses in the city of Nakhchivan, payment will be made entirely through cashless methods.

"Passengers will be able to use CityCard and BakıKart, as well as Google Pay, Apple Pay, the QR code of the BakıKart mobile application, and any bank card," she said.

She also emphasized that a modern car wash has been installed at the depot.

"Washing one bus takes an average of 3-6 minutes. At the same time, 85% of the water used is returned to circulation after filtration," E. Aliyeva noted.

It should be noted that on August 11, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva inspected the new electric buses that will be put into service in the city of Nakhchivan and familiarized themselves with the reconstruction works on the railway infrastructure of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
